AOC Hike

Join the Milwaukee Estuary Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for a free guided hike through Havenwoods State Forest, one of Milwaukee’s most unique urban natural areas and a future Area of Concern (AOC) restoration site.

During this interactive hike, participants will:

  • Learn about the site’s history, from its landfill past to today’s thriving creek and trail system.

  • Hear updates on upcoming Phase 3 restoration work and efforts to manage invasive species.

  • Explore the Blue and Orange Trails, stopping at the old Nike missile base, Lincoln Creek bridge, and pine forest.

  • Take part in fun activities like interactive bingo. Prizes will be given to those that complete the card!

  • An interactive art activity where kids will learn about the focal species at Havenwoods and learn more about how the Area of Concern project will help improve their habitat. Then, design your own mask based on your favorite animal to take along the hike.

Snacks, art supplies, and prizes included! Let’s come together to care for the places that connect us - whether you live next door or across the city.

Register today.
